Baby among three young children stabbed in horror attack as woman arrested on attempted murder

A BABY is among three young children stabbed in a horror attack as a woman is arrested on attempted murder.

Police officers rushed to a house on Walpole Road in Huddersfield this morning after local residents reported hearing “screams”.

A four-year-old girl, a two-year-old boy and a three-month-old boy were found with severe stab wounds.

The baby and young girl are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police officials say.

The other boy is believed to be in serious but stable condition.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

She was also treated for injuries.

Frightened neighbors reported shock after hearing screams coming from inside the house this morning.

Natalia Skorek, 23, who lives a few houses down from the address, said: “My mother heard some screams around 7am.”

“But we thought it was the neighbors on the other side because they have kids and they sometimes hear them screaming.

“So we didn’t think anything of it.

“Only later did we find out what had happened.”

Another neighbor, who asked not to be named, said the woman had lived at the address with her husband for about two years and they had three children.

She said: “I think the husband is a taxi driver.

“One of the children is only a few months old, the other two are older.”

DCI Sam Freeman said: “We continue to conduct an extensive investigation into this incident which left three children seriously injured this morning.

“A woman continues to be treated for injuries and remains arrested in hospital.

“Based on our investigation to date, we are not looking for anyone in connection with what happened.”

He added: “Officials continue to support the affected family at what is clearly a terrible time for them.

“I would like to remind residents that the case involves very young children and ask that their privacy be respected and the public avoid unhelpful speculation which can only add to the plight of the families involved.”
