Atlanta Hawks front Slightly red orange is to play for New York Knicks after a transaction between two institutions. This is one of the NBA’s first big deals as the Hawks want to make some changes to their roster.
Reddish is a rising player, but recently there have been rumors that Atlanta is willing to move the 22-year-old. The transaction was first reported on Thursday by NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. In exchange for Reddish, the New York Knicks are getting some draft picks, as well as the veteran forward Solomon Hill.
This is what we know to love
This is the first transaction that will cause shock waves throughout the NBA.
Cam Reddish is seen as a young wing that still has the best basketballs ahead. There has been speculation that the Atlanta Hawks (17-23) are looking to change their roster.
The Hawks have one of the most talented rosters in the league, but they failed to build an impressive run to last year’s Eastern Conference finals.
Reddish is a difficult situation for Atlanta. As much as the team want to keep him, the 6ft 8in striker is expected to hit a freestyle this season. If the Hawks aren’t sold on a long-term extension to Reddish, they risk losing him for nothing this summer. So they decided to get their draft capital back.
According to Bobby Marks, Front Office Insider of ESPN, the first round pick options protections come from the top 18 picks protected for 2022.
Many will be wondering if the Hawks’ Reddish transaction could be the start of a larger one in the future. There have been things that have made the Philadelphia 76ers defense team unhappy Ben Simmons was connected to the Hawks.
For the Knicks, it’s a huge profit when the team gets another wing of young talent to partner with RJ Barrett. They played together at Duke, and it will be interesting to see what the two can do for the Knicks. Reddish has had ups and downs with his game this year. But he went through seven games last month averaging 18.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 39.1% from the 3-point range.
