At least seven dead and 14 injured across the US over a violent weekend even as temperatures plummeted to -108F wind chill

THE United States has had a deadly weekend of bitter cold and multiple shootings over the past two days that have killed seven.
A total of 14 others are recovering from the explosion of violence across the country.

Delaware
One person is dead and two others injured after gunfire erupted in Wilmington, Delaware this weekend.
Police said the victims were in a car around 4:30 p.m. when they were shot and one man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two victims were taken to the hospital, but the motive for this shooting is unknown.

Arizona
A shooting in Phoenix killed one man and left two others in serious condition.


Gunfire erupted around 1:30 a.m. early Saturday morning when officers spotted three men who had been shot dead.
The deceased, Manuel Reyes, was only 30 years old. The other two men are recovering from their injuries, according to local media.
Police said: “Preliminary information indicates a confrontation between the victims and suspects broke out outside a home. During this confrontation, several suspects began shooting at the victims.”
No arrests were made in connection with the shooting.

Washington, D.C
Two separate shootings resulted in two dead and three seriously injured, police said.
The first shooting took place around 5 a.m. Saturday afternoon in northwest DC, where officers found a man with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second fatal shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the 3600 block of 22nd Street in the southeast near the district’s Maryland border. Police said they found a man with gunshot wounds in the area.
Another shooting occurred hours later in the southeast at 4:45 p.m. where another man was found dead from a gunshot.
The department has also responded to two non-fatal shootings in the Southeast.
Atlanta
A co-owner of a popular Atlanta club died Saturday after an early-morning shooting.
Michael Gidewon was discovered outside the venue at around 6:55 am with gunshot wounds and died at the scene.
The shooting allegedly happened after a person booted out of the club and shot Gidewon while intoxicated.

Chicago
At least seven people were injured and one person died after a bloody weekend in the windy city.
At 1:23 a.m. this morning, a 41-year-old man was in a vehicle when he was shot multiple times by a passing person.
On Saturday, two others were injured when they were grazed by bullets.
A man was shot in the groin by a person driving by in a dark-colored vehicle and is recovering.
Four men were shot and injured across the city on Friday.
One was taken to hospital in serious condition, the rest are said to be recovering, according to police.

New England’s deep freeze
Parts of the Northeastern United States hit record low temperatures as a deadly freeze settled over the region.
A new record was set at Mount Washington in New Hampshire when the temperature reached minus 46 degrees Celsius, with a wind chill of minus 108 degrees Celsius.


Wind gusts reached 127mph and about 15million people were given wind chill warnings throughout the weekend.
Government leaders have urged people to stay indoors if possible until the cold subsides.
