Police said the accident happened late Monday night and by the time rescuers arrived at the scene, eight people had died.
Three others died on the way to hospital and one later died in hospital.
After the vehicle went off the road, it rolled about 200 meters down the mountainside near the village of Chedagad in Karnali province.
Road accidents in mountainous Nepal are often attributed to poorly maintained roads and vehicles.
The tragedy came after at least 27 people died after a trailer they were traveling on overturned and plunged into a pond in India.
Another 20 were hospitalized when the tractor they were traveling on lost control and fell into the water.
The group of 40 adults and children were visiting a temple in Uttar Pradesh when the tragedy struck.
The passengers – who were from the same village – were taken to a hospital in nearby Bheetergaon.
Terrifying footage showed locals rushing to retrieve survivors and dead from the pond in pitch blackness.
Once children were seen being carried in the arms of volunteers.
