At least 11 dead and 15 injured after “three soldiers” opened fire in a rampage at a Russian army training base

AT LEAST 11 people are dead and more than a dozen injured after three Russian soldiers went on a killing spree at an army training ground near the Ukrainian border this evening.

The troops opened fire on comrades at the Western Military District training ground in the southern Belgorod region.

Up to 15 people were injured in the killing spree, which the Russian Defense Ministry has described as a “terrorist attack”.

Two of the three gunmen were killed by return fire, while one reportedly escaped.

An official statement from the Russian Defense Ministry said: “Two citizens of one of the CIS countries committed a terrorist attack at the training ground of the Western Military District in the Belgorod region.

“As a result, 11 people died, 15 were injured and are receiving medical attention.

“Terrorists shot at the unit’s personnel. Two terrorists were destroyed by return fire.

“Law enforcement agencies are working at the scene of the terrorist attack.”
