Newcastle United, Rangers and Celtic are already eyeing McAllister, son of former Scotland international Jamie McAllister.

The former Aberdeen, Livingston and Hearts full-back became a fan favorite at Bristol City before becoming Johnson’s assistant manager at Ashton Gate.

He recently returned to Scotland to become Johnson’s No 2 at Hibernian.

However, his son Reuben has remained at Bristol City, where he has made rapid progress through the Robins’ youth ranks.

McAllister Jr. made his U23 debut for the Robins against Queen’s Park Rangers last October aged 15 and has since attracted Premier League scouts to Bristol in droves.

Gerrard is the latest Premier boss to be drawn to McAllister’s talent but faces stiff competition from big clubs on both sides of the border.

Gerrard is keen on advancing Villa’s investment in their youth structure and earlier this week spent £350,000 in a bid to land Rangers superchild Rory Wilson.

Wilson, 16, scored a whopping 49 goals in all youth-level competitions last season and the fee could rise to £1million depending on appearances and caps.

Rangers will also receive 10 per cent of the future transfer fee for the teenager, who has scored eight goals in 11 Scotland U17 games.

And McAllister is the latest teenage talent to hit his radar and he’s ready to go head-to-head with his rivals for the youngster who qualifies to represent both Scotland and England.
