ASTON VILLA look to West Ham’s veteran centre-back Craig Dawson to ease his defensive woes.
Boss Steven Gerrard is trying to broker a deal for the veteran star ready to leave the Hammers for more playing time.
Gerrard will also hand 32-year-old Dawson, who has been a valuable member of West Ham’s squad since joining from Watford, a two-year deal.
He is close to returning from injury.
But Hammers is reluctant to sell him at this point.
Gerrard was put in a hole after losing new boy Diego Carlos for the season and Dawson can fill that void.
Axe skipper Tyrone Mings is back on the team, but KortneyHome has been loaned out, leaving Villa at the back.
Dawson has just a year left at West Ham and knows he may be stuck on the bench barring injuries.
David Moyes has made seven new additions to his first-team squad this summer, including two centre-backs.
The Hammers signed Nayef Aguerd from Rennes but the 26-year-old suffered an injury in preparation.
