Aston Villa agree a deal for ex-Newcastle transfer target Seville’s Diego Carlos with the Brazilian to fly in for medical treatment

The 29-year-old defender is set to be unveiled as Villa’s third signing of the summer following the arrest of Boubacar Kamara and the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho.
Carlos will now undergo a medical and will officially be a Villa player when fit.
The Villans are ending their transfer business early and are determined to improve on their 14th place finish this season.
They’ll likely be delighted to sign Carlos after he’s caught the eye of several clubs, notably Newcastle.
Toon was keen to sign him in January but Sevilla refused to budge, turning down offers in the region of £25million.
Sevilla wanted to keep him as they struggled at the top of La Liga in January – and impose a £40million price tag on the Brazilian.
However, sources close to the deal say the Spaniards’ current financial crisis allowed Villa to land their man at a bargain price of £26m as Sevilla had to cover a €41m deficit by the end of June.
Carlos is expected to pocket around £100,000 a week in wages as Gerrard acts quickly to plug the holes in his Villa defense with two key defensive signings as early as this week.

There could be more signings at Villa Park as Atletico Madrid star Luis Suarez was tipped to reunite with Steven Gerrard.
Villa are also said to be interested in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the Liverpool midfielder was put up for sale.
Gerrard could also make another defensive signing in the form of free agent James Tarkowski, although Everton are also snooping on the Burnley man.
