ARSENAL are reportedly battling Juventus in the race for Cagliari’s Giovanni Simeone.
The 26-year-old, who spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Hellas Verona, seems set to leave Cagliari after being relegated to Serie B.
Simeone has scored 17 goals and six assists in 35 Italian top division games for Verona and helped them finish ninth in the table.
The Yellow-Blues have an option to sign the Argentina international – son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego – for £12.8m.
But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Fiorentina centre-forward has become a target for both the Gunners and the Old Lady.
Juve beat Arsenal in their bid to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January and they are now aiming to land a deputy for the super Serb.
It has been claimed that Massimiliano Allegri’s side have identified Simeone as the perfect understudy for Vlahovic.
Juve are at the top of the market for reinforcements, with Paulo Dybala set to leave as a free agent.
And Moise Kean has struggled since returning to Turin from Everton, while Alvaro Morata is likely to return to Atletico Madrid after his loan move.
Mikel Arteta is also desperate to step up his attack with Alexandre Lacazette ready to link up with Lyon once his contract expires.

However, it remains to be seen if Simeone is a serious target for Arsenal.
It’s not the first time Simeone has been linked with a move to England, with West Ham reportedly keen.
The Hammers are said to be keeping an eye on the player in November ahead of a possible move in the winter transfer window.
And Tottenham have also been linked along with Merseyside side Everton in the past.
