Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Xhaka SLAMS teammates, POTENTIAL ‘new Messi’ transfer, Marquinhos contract UPDATE

Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal have suffered a major blow to their top-four chances following their 2-0 defeat by Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Gunners now face the prospect of finishing fifth behind local rivals Tottenham with another Premier League game to go.

The Magpies opened the scoring after 55 minutes from a Ben White own goal and sealed the win half an hour later with starman Bruno Guimaraes.

The north Londoners are now two points behind Spurs in the Premier League table with just one game left.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Sao Paulo starlet Marquinhos for £3million on a long-term deal until 2027.

It has been claimed that the Gunners have reached a full deal with the Brazilian giants after the forward rejected various contract offers.

The north Londoners have managed to secure a reduced fee for the 19-year-old ace after a legal battle.

And Arsenal have stepped in to negotiate a fee with Sao Paulo, where they appear to have beaten both Wolves and Atletico Madrid for the Brazilian.

And the Gunners have received a transfer boost in their attempt to sign Benfica star Darwin Nunez as his club are close to signing a replacement.

According to The Athletic, the Portuguese giants are planning a nosedive for Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic.

The Lisbon team expect to lose Nunez this summer and ideally want a deal to be struck as soon as possible, giving them ample time to fill the void he will leave.

Now attempts are being made to bring in Kalajdzic as a replacement for their centre-forward, who has also been linked with Manchester United.

Finally, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign outgoing Juventus star Paulo Dybala but there is a major catch.

Dybala is only interested in signing for a club that will definitely play in the Champions League next season.

And that’s quite a blow for the Gunners after their defeat by Newcastle that dropped them to fifth place.

With Alexandre Lacazette sure to leave this summer and Eddie Nketiah likely to follow, manager Mikel Arteta is on the market for two forwards Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Xhaka SLAMS teammates, POTENTIAL ‘new Messi’ transfer, Marquinhos contract UPDATE
