Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Fans SLAM Jorginho debut, Arteta shows ‘interest’ in Asensio, Everton loss reaction – most recently

Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was brutally honest about his side’s shortcomings in the 1-0 defeat by Everton.

He said: “I think Everton have been really good and we have to congratulate them first for how they turned things around. I think they won the game because they were really efficient.

“On our side, [we’re] disappointed because obviously we didn’t get the desired result but the performance doesn’t reflect what we did.

“Especially in two phases – one when they were very direct and we struggled to control that type of game and get back on track and the game we wanted to play.

“Then with the amount of open situations that we generated in the final third, which has to end with goals and clear chances to score, much more than today.”

However, Arteta also showed how proud he takes coaching his players despite Arsenal colliding with defeat.

“I told them today that I love them a lot more than I did a week ago and six months ago,” he said.

“It’s easy to be next to someone who’s winning and playing well.

“Now is the moment to be next to them – they deserve it.

“I’m so proud to coach these players.”

Arteta was reportedly forced to drag Oleksandr Zinchenko off after Arsenal’s defeat at Goodison Park.

The Ukrainian was involved in an altercation with Neal Maupay towards the end of the game and it was suspected that the altercations continued after the final whistle.

Telegraph reporter Sam Dean tweeted: “Arteta drags Zinchenko off after the final whistle.

“The Arsenal left-back had a few things he wanted to say to some Everton players.”

Arsenal fans might fret over the Everton defeat, but one of their stars promises an answer next week.

Brazil centre-back Gabriel tweeted that he wanted his side to return to winning ways next week.

He tweeted: “We win together, we lose together!!! Full focus next Saturday… thanks Gunners for the support…”

Arsenal meet Brentford in the Emirates next Saturday.

Marco Asensio’s agents will reportedly fly to London next week to discuss the possibility of a move to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain – his contract expires in the summer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a great admirer of his talents.

According to the Mirror, he is aiming for a £118,000-a-week wage increase as well as a four-year contract.
