Arsenal ‘to persuade Paulo Dybala to transfer, with Juventus star seen as cheaper alternative to Darwin Nunez’

ARSENAL are reportedly ready to initiate a move for Paulo Dybala in place of Darwin Nunez in their search for a new striker.

Mikel Arteta’s side allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave for free in January and face the prospect of losing both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah for free when their contracts expire in June.

That has resulted in the Gunners being linked with a variety of names as potential replacements.

Benfica’s Uruguayan star Nunez, 22, is the latest man Arsenal are believed to be targeting – despite having at least £68million on his head.

However, Tuttosport claim they will instead look to save millions of pounds by opting for Dybala instead.

The 28-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season after Juventus withdrew their offer of an extension.

The Argentine ace’s wage demands have proved too high for the Italian club as they look to drastically cut their wage costs.

Now Arsenal are one of the teams hoping to capitalize on the situation, with Tuttomercatoweb already saying they have started talks with Dybala’s representatives.

The South American has made 29 appearances and scored 13 for his club this season.

But he has struggled with fitness over the past two years, missing 18 games last season and 15 this season through injury.

Dybala’s seven-year stay in Turin seems to be coming to an end.

He has seen competition to lead Juve’s attacking surge following the £62million signing of Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina in January.

Liverpool and Tottenham are among those reported to be pursuing Dybala’s availability as well. Arsenal ‘to persuade Paulo Dybala to transfer, with Juventus star seen as cheaper alternative to Darwin Nunez’
