The Arsenal boss has already been recruiting heavily this summer, beefing up the attack with the signing of striker Gabriel Jesus.

But the club may have one last pull in them before the window closes as they attempt to re-enter the Premier League top four.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal majority owner Stan Kroenke has given the green light to Diaby’s move.

According to the report, the Gunners believe the 23-year-old could “complete” their attack but money could be a sticking point for the negotiations.

Bayer Leverkusen value the Frenchman at £60m, which is believed to be more than Arsenal are willing to pay.

The London club had hoped for a lower fee but are “ready to push the boat out” to secure the highly-rated Diaby.

The decision to give his all for the star was thought to have been made ahead of Arsenal’s convincing 2-0 opening day win over Crystal Palace.

Kroenke and other senior figures at the club are reportedly very encouraged by Arteta’s progress with the team, which may have helped influence them.

However, fans might be wary as Arsenal’s latest expensive swap for a winger in the form of Lille’s Nicolas Pepe hasn’t worked out.

Diaby has played for Leverkusen since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019.

He had a stellar season for the German club last season, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists as they finished 3rd, five points behind Borussia Dortmund.

The outsider can also operate on either flank but has predominantly played on the right flank in Germany to allow him to cut to his left flank. .

Arsenal are among the top spends in the Premier League this window, with the £45million signing of Jesus followed by big-money moves for the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira.
