Arsenal news LIVE: Leno SLAMS club ‘politics’ Wilfried Zaha BLOW Europa League win – most recently

Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal visit Zurich tonight to celebrate their return to the Europa League.

Hosts coach Franco Foda is expected to have a well-stocked squad for their big fight against the Gunners.

However, Foda will have to continue without centre-back Ilan Sauter and Shakhtar Donetsk loanee Bogdan Viunnyk as both are injured.

Elsewhere, the north Londoners remain light in midfield, with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny still in the treatment room while Reiss Nelson goes through his own recovery process.

But Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has received a new blow when Emile Smith Rowe picked up an injury during Manchester United’s warm-up.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa ace and Arsenal summer target Douglas Luiz will leave Villa Park as a free agent next summer.

Luiz has been chased by three top Premier League clubs this summer after entering the final year of his contract.

Chelsea were known to be ecstatic before finally opting for Juventus ace Denis Zakaria on loan.

Liverpool also kept tabs on the midfielder until he completed a loan deal for Juve’s Arthur Melo.

But it was the Gunners who led the charge against Luiz on transfer deadline day after Villa rejected a £23million bid.

Despite being happy to remain at the Midlands this season, the Brazil international has already made up his mind to leave Steven Gerrard’s team when his contract expires in 2023, according to the UOL report.

The 24-year-old is keen to extend his tenure in the Premier League.

And Fulham star Bernd Leno launched a scathing attack on Arsenal when he revealed he had left the club over “politics, not merits”.

Leno told Sport Bild: “When I realized that it wasn’t about performance or quality, I knew I had to go.

“I saw in the preparation that it’s not about performance, it’s just about politics. I knew I had to get out of here.

“The most important thing for me is to find my rhythm again.

“Especially after I wasn’t actually able to train properly at Arsenal and had no preparation. It’s up to me to bring the focus back to the national team.”

Finally, late in the summer transfer window, Arsenal were frustrated when their move to Wolves ace Pedro Neto from Nottingham Forest fell through.

The Gunners’ bid for Neto collapsed when the Molineux team increased the winger’s price following Morgan Gibbs-White’s departure.

Gibbs-White was sold to Forest for a fee of up to $42.5 million.

According to The Athletic, this deal “set alarm” on the north Londoners as they knew Wolves could raise their asking price for the Portugal international.

That’s exactly what happened when Wolves demanded £50m for the 22-year-old ace, which was more than Arsenal were willing to splash out. Arsenal news LIVE: Leno SLAMS club ‘politics’ Wilfried Zaha BLOW Europa League win – most recently
