Edu predicts more big signings

Arsenal technical director Edu has announced yet more big signings in the coming weeks.

The Gunners secured their third transfer window purchase after spending £34m on Porto attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira.

The Portugal U21 international has so far arrived in the Emirates along with American keeper Matt Turner and Brazil striker Marquinhos.

Arsenal are far from done with the deal as several key targets may still be on the way to north London.

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, Leeds winger Raphinha and Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez are all closely linked.

When asked if he expects more signings to be announced soon after Vieira’s move, Edu smiled and said: “Yeah, I’m pretty excited.

Arsenal remain on course to buy young talent to bolster boss Mikel Arteta’s squad and Vieira (22) and Marquinhos (19) bring the average age down even further.

Academy product Eddie Nketiah, 23, also recently signed a contract extension. Last summer’s purchases, which included Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga, were all 23 and under.
