Arsenal have turned down a £51million transfer offer of Victor Osimhen from Napoli as the Italians demand a club-record fee for the striker

The 23-year-old forward is on the Gunners’ shortlist to replace the outgoing Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu examine attacking options and Osimhen tops the list of targets alongside Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus.

However, according to Italian outlet Il Mattino, Napoli have been rebuffed an opening offer worth £51million.

The Serie A side reportedly want £85m to let Osimhen go after buying the Nigerian for £69m in 2020.

Since then he has scored 28 goals in 62 games for Napoli and Arsenal will need to increase their bid to land the goalscorer.

But the north Londoners may be reluctant to overspend on Osimhen given they have several other destinations this summer.

Arteta is said to already be frustrated by the club’s hesitations over Jesus – he has so far failed to meet City’s asking price of £50m.

The Gunners could also opt for Marco Asensio, who is reportedly set to turn down a new contract offer from Real Madrid, opening the door for the Spaniard to leave with just a year left on his contract.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is also said to be on Arsenal’s radar.

The Serb could cost £42m if Arteta eye midfield upgrades.

Leicester’s Youri Tielemans is also in the Spaniard’s sights and a deal could be struck if Arsenal let Granit Xhaka go.

The former captain is linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
