Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale reveals the strange way he pocketed an extra £17 in recent win at Leeds United

AARON RAMSDALE has hilariously revealed that he earned an extra £17 in Arsenal’s win over Leeds by pocketing coins tossed onto the pitch by raving fans.

The Gunners keeper, 23, was largely in the audience when his side beat Leeds 4-1 at Elland Road earlier this month.

And Ramsdale – pushing Jordan Pickford for England’s No 1 shirt – has revealed that angry home supporters have thrown so many coins onto the pitch he has won £17.

Speaking on Ben Foster’s podcast, the Three Lions keeper even joked that he pocketed an extra £2 for his growing collection.

Ramsdale revealed: “After the first time [goal], there were some bottles and things thrown out, a few lighters and I put them aside.

“Next thing you know, the money starts coming in…

“There was a £2 – and I collect them – so I took it.

“Then there are quids and 50ps, so I pick them up and I put them on with my towel.”

Ramsdale continued: “After half the time, I put them in my towels, I ran out and put them in the dressing room.

“The second half comes, some more comes, and then a cigar.

“I pulled off about 17 pounds … and I missed some.”

Ramsdale has become a fan favorite at the Emirates after moving from Sheffield United.

Despite initial concerns, the Englishman comfortably usurped Bernd Leno to become Mikel Arteta’s No.

And he caught the eye of supporters in the win over Leeds because Spectacular ‘s *** housery’.

Ramsdale spent much of the game resonating with the Leeds fans.

He celebrated right in front of them after Arsenal’s goal, even sticking out his tongue cheekily as they hurled obscenities.

Then, Ramsdale waved, winked and kissed the far end of the pitch, who abused him throughout the game.

After the game, his playful antics are hailed by Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
