The clubs took a break during the World Cup in Qatar, but are now gearing up again.

Arsenal are taking part in the Dubai Super Cup, in which they also face Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.

Mikel Arteta’s side looked impressive as they scored three goals against a strong-looking Lyon side at Al Maktoum Stadium.

Goals from Gabriel Magalhaes, Fabio Vieira and Eddie Nketiah were enough to give their team victory.

Arteta gave plenty of runouts for youngsters in the game with Marquinhos, Taylor Foran and Amario Cozier-Duberry, who all got minutes.

Despite the convincing win, the two sides still held out a penalty shootout, as Arsenal’s official Twitter account wrote: “Penalty shootout next for an extra point.”

This left fans confused, with one tweeting: “Why penalties?”

A second added: “We win with three to no goal but we still go to penalties?”

There is also a penalty shootout after each game, where the winner gets another point.
