ARSENAL have reportedly joined rivals Tottenham in the transfer hunt for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio.
The midfielder’s future at the Bernabeu is in the stars despite helping them celebrate in both LaLiga and Champions Leagues this season.
Asensio only has 12 months left on his contract.
The 26-year-old was offered an extension by Madrid – and was given until June 20 to sign it.
However, the Spain international’s demands have not been fully met and there is a belief he will rebuff them.
Instead of losing him for nothing next summer, Madrid would rather redeem and sell him now.
The player has reportedly already been offered to Tottenham and AC Milan.
Now Arsenal are also in the process of signing him, according to the Daily Mirror.
This latest report claims that the Gunners have “contacted Asensio representatives to seek answers” about his and Real’s demands.
The former Mallorca ace is seeking reassurances he’s getting regular starts, something he didn’t get at Madrid.

Asensio is also happy to stay in Madrid and play the final season of his package before leaving for free.
But Madrid are looking for a solution and are waiting for him to end national service with Spain before resuming talks.
This latest report also states that Manchester United have inquired about Asensio’s situation.
But they only asked about him “informally” and have yet to investigate.
