Arsenal are on the verge of allowing £340million in signings for NOTHING during the Arteta era

NICOLAS PEPE could be the next big name to leave Arsenal for nothing.

The Gunners are ready to give up the record-breaking £72m signing and even fear having to pay for him to leave.

When Pepe leaves Arsenal this summer, the Gunners will have lost £340million in signings without making a penny back in the time since taking over from Mikel Arteta.

While things are looking rosy on the pitch with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, off the pitch Arteta is unafraid of washing out big names with big contracts.

Ten players have left the club for nothing since he took office in 2019.

And here they are…

Mesut Ozil

Mesut Özil, signed for £42.5m in 2013, spent seven and a half years at the Emirates.

His contract ended six months early in 2021 but the playmaker still helped the Gunners to four FA Cups in his 254 appearances for the club.

German world champion Özil retired from professional football earlier this month.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

After being sacked as Arsenal captain in December 2021, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for nothing just weeks later.

Like Ozil, he too had his contract torn up prematurely and agreed to leave the club by mutual consent, initially joining Barcelona before joining Chelsea last summer.

Alexandre Lacazette

French striker Alexandre Lacazette followed Aubameyang out the door five months later.

After joining the club for £47million in 2017, he was allowed to leave for free when his contract expired last summer.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners as part of the swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United.

He was shipped to Roma on loan 18 months later and joined the Italians permanently the following season when his Arsenal contract was mutually terminated in September 2020.

Shkodran Mustafi

German defender Shkodran Mustafi’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement in February 2021.

He first joined the club in 2016 for £35million, winning the FA Cup twice and making 151 appearances for the club.

Socratis Papastathopoulos

Sokratis Papastathopoulos, another whose contract was terminated early by mutual consent, left Arsenal in January 2021.

The 34-year-old, who now plays for Greek club Olympiacos, made 69 appearances for the Gunners in two and a half years at the club.

Seed Kolasinac

Left-back Sead Kolasinac was terminated and left by mutual consent in January 2022, allowing him to join French club Marseille.

The 29-year-old made 118 appearances for the Gunners after joining from German club Schalke in June 2017.

Hector Bellin

Longtime Arsenal servant Hector Bellerin spent ten years at the Emirates before departing in September 2022.

His contract was terminated by mutual consent and he joined Barcelona after spending the previous season on loan at Real Betis and is currently on loan from Barca to Sporting.
