Arsenal are confident Thomas Partey will be fit for next weekend’s clash with Everton with Man City’s injury not serious

ARSENAL are confident that Thomas Partey will be fit for next weekend’s clash with Everton.

And that’s despite the fact that the star left the pitch injured in yesterday’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester City.

Partey, 29, was one of Arsenal’s standout players in this season’s unexpected title defense.

The former Atletico Madrid man has scored twice from midfield in 16 games.

But Partey gave Mikel Arteta a scare when he was substituted at half-time yesterday at the Etihad.

Albert Sambi Lokonga came on after Partey suffered a hit in the ribs.

And Arteta later confirmed his No 5 was due for an MRI scan, dealing a blow to Arsenal’s title hopes.

However, the Gunners are confident today that Partey has not suffered a major setback.

The MRI results have instead given the powerhouse the all-clear.

And he is expected to be in the starting XI when Arsenal travel to Everton next Saturday.

The news is sure to excite Arteta, who saw Partey’s replacement Lokonga endure a torrid spell in the 1-0 loss to City.

Arsenal are hoping to bolster their midfield ahead of Tuesday’s deadline with the signing of Moises Caicedo.

But Brighton are demanding a mega fee of £90m after rejecting Arsenal’s £60m offer.

Chelsea are also ecstatic after the Ecuadorian publicly announced his intention to leave the Amex.

Caicedo would become the second star to swap Brighton for Arsenal this month should a deal go through.

Leandro Trossard completed a £27m Emirates move last week after falling out with boss Roberto De Zerbi.

And the Belgian looked bright down the left flank as he started his first Arsenal game last night.
