Boss Mikel Arteta has successfully used central defender Ben White in that position for most of this campaign.

However, Arsenal are keen to recruit a more attacking option ahead of next season.

Accordingly Heaven GermanyBaku has impressed Gunners scouts this season.

They add that Baku are interested in leaving Wolfsburg this summer and that a move to the Premier League would be an attractive offer.

At the end of the season, the 25-year-old only has a two-year contract with the Germans.

And he could be available for as little as £13million.

Baku played mainly as a right winger earlier in his career before being converted.

Last season he was deployed as a right-back before switching to full-back this season through a move to the back four.

The four-time Germany international has scored five goals in 26 appearances this season.

All five of his goals were a sensational six-game winning streak across both sides of the World Cup.

Despite this, Wolfsburg is ninth in the Bundesliga table.

Baku has made 105 appearances since joining from Mainz in 2020, scoring 16 goals and providing 14 assists.

In addition to White, the Gunners also have Takehiro Tomiyasu as a right-back option.

But the 24-year-old has largely fallen out of favor this season, starting just six Premier League games.

The Japan international was ruled out for the remainder of the season last month after suffering a knee injury.
