And while all of Argentina cheered on Lionel Messi and his teammates at home and in bars, a very special party was taking place in the South American country.

The owners of Diego Maradona’s old family home threw a big party at his former luxury quarters to celebrate the win.

They are believed to have bought the house just six days ago but let people in for free to watch the World Cup game.

Images and video show incredible scenes of Argentines huddled around the pool and having the time of their lives as they marked the win.

Many wore the national jersey as they sipped poolside beers and danced triumphantly.

Other fans ran shirtless through the crowded garden and people of all ages could be seen in the crowd.

Pictures show some people standing on the balcony and under huge white tents amid the happy but chaotic scenes after the homeowners opened the doors to neighbors and friends.

Maradona, who died in 2020 at the age of 60, was known to be football’s biggest party animal.

And fans loved the party at his former home, with one person writing on Twitter: “The whole ‘it’s what he would have wanted’ thing is a bit cliche but it’s probably what Diego would have wanted.”

Maradona owned the “Temple” in the beautiful Villa Devoto since the 1980s before it was sold.

According to Xtratime, the new owners have kept everything to pay respect to the legendary footballer.

And ahead of their massive pool party, they had also set up chairs and served food while people watched the game on a giant screen.

According to Clarin Sports, the meal included eighty kilos of meat with tasty BBQ treats like beef and pork.

Reporters from local broadcaster A24 described the scene.

One said: “It’s a big party, the new owners who bought it just six days ago have decided to open it up to anyone who might come to see the game and enjoy it.

“They bought at least 80 kilos of asado [bbq meat]I’m not exaggerating, there’s meat until 10pm, they bought drinks for everyone.

“Before that, I asked one of the new owners if they’re going to kick people out, if they’re going to start slowly escorting them outside because there are people everywhere in the bedrooms, in the bathrooms.”

The reporter added that the new owners are big Maradona fans and originally planned to convert the site into a hotel or museum in honor of the Argentine legend.

Maradona was the mastermind behind Argentina’s last World Cup win in 1986, when he led his country to victory after scoring a famous goal or two.
