Are The Umbrella Academy’s David Castañeda and Ritu Arya dating?

We are only a few days away from the premiere of The Umbrella Academy Season 3, and I can’t wait to see the Hargreeves siblings figure out their next mess. As you probably recall, Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger when, after saving the world once again, the family finally came home in their presence, only to find that they had somehow messed up the timelines and now Sparrow Academy resides there. The coexistence of these two families will not be easy.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 returns some of our favorite characters, including dysfunctional couple Diego Hargreeves (David Castañeda) and Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya). The two fan-favorites meet in season 2 when they are both inmates of a mental institution, and it’s utterly entertaining to watch their blossoming relationship. By the end of season two, they are no longer together, but they find out something very important. As it turns out Lilia is actually one of the Umbrellas as she was born on October 1st 1989 with powers.

If you love Diego and Lila as much as we do, you’re probably wondering whether or not the two actors who play them are also in a romantic relationship. Here’s what we know!

Are Diego and Lila from The Umbrella Academy dating in real life?

Since Season 2, many rumors have been floating around that David Castañeda and Ritu Arya are a real couple, but none of the stars have confirmed this to be true. They both share photos and videos together on Instagram, but some fans believe they’re just roommates while filming the show and nothing more. It’s hard to say when the cast will be this close, but if we had to guess, we’d think the two are single in real life and aren’t dating. Of course, this is just speculation at this point.

Castañeda was previously believed to be in a relationship with fellow actress Ana Villafañe, with the Broadway star sharing a PDA selfie of the two together on social media back in 2019. Since then, however, we haven’t seen any more pictures of the two, leading us to believe it may have been a short-lived romance.

Fans on social media have claimed that Arya has been or is dating a musician, but we couldn’t find any further information about it online.

While fans delivering the two characters would love to see a date in real life, it’s nice to know that Castañeda and Arya are at least good friends. Be sure to see them back on your screens, though The Umbrella Academy Season 3 premieres on Netflix this Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
