Arceus ‘Akari has the best facial expression

Pokemon Rivals have become much friendlier over the years. We start with Blue/Gary Oak, who is really a bully. But now, our most recent companion in games is Hop, who is so unthreatening that he doesn’t even understand match types. That’s why fans are relieved to see that Pokemon Legend: Arceus is a return to form in many ways.
If you play as Rei, you get Akari as your rival – and she frankly looks down on you and everyone around you. However, unlike her previous opponents, she has bitter facial expressions – and players can’t get enough of that.
When some of your previous opponents are simply gender-swapped versions of your character’s past, you might wonder why Rei doesn’t get as much love as Akari. Well, it’s simple – he’s not that mean. There are indeed subtle changes in the way they express their emotions and speak, with Akari having a much more difficult time.
For example, when Rei said “…is that a joke?”, Akari instead replied, “You can’t be serious”. On top of that, Rei just looked confused – while Akari was angry.
Across the board, Akari’s facial expression shows a lot of disdain for the idiots she has to endure. This is what we want with an opponent: not a friend, but an enemy.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is full of content, so it’s not the only discovery fans have made. Early in the game, players notice that the lore has been built in a way we never expected – Poke Balls do not Miniature Pokemon. Instead, it turns out that Pokemon have the ability to shrink themselves, and the Balls just take advantage of them to make them easier to catch. However, fans aren’t convinced by this answer, which is fair, since it’s a bit creepy.
