IF YOU are someone who likes to work on all of your iOS devices, then this genius hack can make the process even more seamless.
In 2014, Apple introduced iOS 8 to its devices, with the system update boasting a feature called “Handoff”.
‘Handoff’ is a smart tool that allows users to sync their Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, iMac, MacBook, iPod touch and Apple Watch.
With ‘Handoff’ you can transfer work or activities in progress from one nearby device to another and pick up where you left off.
How to set up ‘Handoff’
For starters, you can only use ‘Handoff’ if your device responds Continuous system requirements.
Handoff also only works when your devices are close together and signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.
Furthermore, the devices must have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled.
After completing all those steps, you can enable ‘Handoff’.
On a Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click General.
Select “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices”.
On iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff, then turn on Handoff.
If you’re using an Apple Watch: You must go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, click General, and turn on Enable Handoff.
How to use ‘Handoff’
Now that you have the ‘Handoff’ set up, here’s how to use it.
You must first open an application that works with ‘Handoff’, such as Mail, Maps, Safari, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and some third-party applications.
Next, use the app to start a task (i.e. write an email or document).
Then, when you’re ready to switch to another device, you can click the app’s ‘Handoff’ icon in the Dock.
The work will automatically transfer to your other device.
