Apple Watch double tap feature added to watchOS 10.1 beta

The popular Double Tap feature has been added to the second beta version of watchOS 10.1.

Double Tap is a new feature for Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9 and works by allowing users to tap with their thumb and index finger to invoke commands for their Apple Watch models. Fine movements are detected by the sensitive sensors embedded in the smartwatches and are sometimes registered as touches on the display.

Use cases for Double Tap include ending or answering a call, pausing and playing music, turning off an alarm, and other actions with a single tap. This is a practical option when the user has their other hand full, for example to hold another object. Double Tap works with the S9 chip, which is exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Series 9.
