Antonio Conte orders Tottenham’s new signing Clement Lenglet out of Chelsea clash with FATIGUE… one game a season

TOTTENHAM have been without the services of Clement Lenglet for their crunch clash against Chelsea just ONE game a season due to fatigue.

Lenglet, a summer signing from Barcelona, bolstered Antonio Conte’s defensive options.

However, after just one game, Lenglet was already ruled out of the second and third games of the season.

In his press conference ahead of Spurs’ game with Chelsea, Conte said: “A little problem with Clement Lenglet.

“I don’t think he’s available for the Chelsea game or certainly for the next game against Wolverhampton (Wanderers). All the other players are good.”

Conte revealed the Frenchman was struggling with a kidnapping problem but that giving him a rest was more of a precaution than a forced release.

Lenglet, 27, joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 but has so far not lived up to expectations and has been sidelined either through injury or a lack of form.

In fact, he only played 1,145 minutes last season, less than a third of what he managed the season before.

He played for four minutes in Tottenham’s opener against Southampton last week to boost his loan deal for the season.

Along with Lenglet, Spurs have brought in a number of players to bolster their team ahead of a potentially trying season that will entail the challenge of Champions League football.

Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence and Fraser Forster have all been signed so far but spending is expected to continue with Spurs linked with Memphis Depay.

Spurs have also reportedly agreed a deal to sign 19-year-old Udinese full-back Destiny Udogie in a deal worth around £17million.
