The proud Ukrainian tennis player shows no signs of leaving his homeland in the near future, raising concerns about his rematch with Joshua.
But AJ has revealed his next move will soon be made known to the public, tweeting on Thursday night: “Announcement coming soon.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed earlier this month that the former two-time heavyweight champion could join an interim fight while Usyk takes on the Russian.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “First, our thoughts are with everyone in Ukraine.

“Everyone is showing amazing bravery out there, especially some of the great warriors of the past and Oleksandr as well.
“He can get the time he needs, we don’t want any fight but Oleksandr Usyk.
“So whether that fight is delayed and we have a temporary showdown – I guess that depends on Oleksandr Usyk’s situation and how much time he needs.
“It was a very emotional and personal time for the Ukrainian people, so we respect them and we will spend all our time with them.

“But we will not seek to escape our obligations [to fight Usyk again] is what i am saying.
“The only fight AJ wants right now is Oleksandr Usyk.
“If we have to fight in the middle, no problem, but we will respect this time for Oleksandr Usyk.
“We will speak to his advisers and if it is necessary to delay the contract period, we will gladly accept that.
“But we want that fight and we don’t want that obligation to go away.”
Joshua’s former teammate, Joe Joyce, tried to make him a domestic hit this past week with a series of taunts on Twitter.
And The Juggernaught promoter Frank Warren contacted Hearn to try to do the Battle of Britain.
He told talkSPORT: “We had initial contact, but I don’t think they would agree to it. If they wanted to, they could have it.”
