Andre Leon Talley dies: ‘America’s Next Top Model’ judge dies at 73

Fashion idol André Leon Talley, former editor-in-chief of Vogue and a judge on The CW’s America’s top model, passed away at the age of 73.

Each TMZ, Talley passed away Tuesday at a hospital in White Plains, NY. Cause of death was not disclosed.

Talley serves as Voguefashion news director from 1983 to 1987, then creative director of the magazine from 1988 to 1995. After a three-year absence, he returned. Vogue in 1998 as general editor – a position he held until leaving in 2013.

He also wrote three books, including two memoirs – 2003 ALT: Hardcover Memoirs and in 2020 The Chiffon Trenches: A Memoir – and was the subject of a 2017 documentary The Gospel According to Andre.

Talley joins Top Models as a judge on Season 14, on which he appeared alongside host Tyra Banks, creative director Jay Manuel, runway coach J. Alexander and fellow panelist Nigel Barker. He’s remained with this series for four cycles, departing after the end of his 17th season.

Additional TV credits include a cameo on the Fox soap Empire. He also appeared in Sex and the city film, which was released in 2008.
