An updated guide for Illinois attorneys general to veterans benefits


SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – The Illinois attorney general’s office has released updated guidance on benefits for Illinois veterans and their families.

The Guide “Benefits for Illinois Veterans” was put together by the Attorney General’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. It provides veterans and family members with information regarding help provided by state and federal law.

“My office is dedicated to ensuring that veterans and active-duty members receive the benefits they have earned,” Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a statement. “This comprehensive guide to veteran benefits will ensure Illinois veterans and their families know their eligibility and how to apply for federal, state, and city benefits. ”

The 2022 edition includes information about new programs and benefits, including:

—Health care for women veterans;

—Veterans face homelessness;

– Vietnam War-related exposures, such as Agent Orange;

—Effects of contaminated water at Camp Lejeune;

—All related to service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
