To the surprise of authorities, the woman was found to be breathing less than an hour after arriving at the New York funeral home.
She was then taken to the hospital, but her current condition is unknown.
The incident is currently under investigation by the New York State Attorney’s Office.
The US Sun has reached out to the nursing home for comment on the incident.

This is not the first time such an incident has taken place.
A similar incident occurred in Des Moines, Iowa, where a 66-year-old woman was pronounced dead at an Alzheimer’s care center.
On arrival at the funeral home, the woman was found to be still breathing and was taken to the hospital. She later died in the hospice.
In August 2020, a 20-year-old woman with cerebral palsy was pronounced dead, only to be found alive at a funeral home.
Timesha Beauchamp’s family reported she was having trouble breathing and a doctor pronounced her dead over the phone after first responders reported she was showing no signs of life.
However, funeral home staff noticed her chest was moving and she was taken to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition until her death in October 2020.
Her family filed a $50 million lawsuit against the city and the first responders involved.
