America’s Got Talent 2023 LIVE – Howie Mandel responds to complaints that judges are ‘harsh’ after Summer Rios’ eviction
AMERICA’s Got Talent is back with a new episode tonight after fans criticized the judges for being too harsh.
Last week’s episode featured acts trying to get through the qualifying rounds, but not everyone made it.
After a few performances were cut from the final episode, including fan-favorite Summer Rios, the judges were labeled “tough” by fans.
“You know, I’m really tired of #howie making rousing performances in the finale. People are voting now, #stfu. Time to retire.” wrote one fan on X
Judge Howie Mandel commented on this fan reaction.
“I don’t know if we’re tougher, but more in the moment and real and authentic,” the judge explained Parade Magazine.
Next: “Oh my God, a lot of people sitting at home change the channel, or when they’re watching it on YouTube, they click on something else.” The buzzer is our remote control – and then I feel bad. I don’t want to make anyone feel bad, but I think we’re paid to at least share our opinions.”

The coveted Golden Buzzer returns this season
In season nine in 2014, the show added a new format to auditions in the form of the Golden Buzzer.
When it was first used, the buzzer simply saved an act from elimination.
However, in the first season, three of the featured plays were canceled during Judgment Week, while the fourth was never shown.
The only rule about the buzzer was that a judge could only use it once per season.
