Tyler, 24, opened up about the tragic deaths of both his sister and grandson in his audition above Saturday premiere.

“Today is a special day for me, I dedicate this to my nephew who passed away this past April,” he began.

“He and his mother, they had a terrible accident. They were hit by an 18-wheeler and they died instantly,” the male singer revealed.

Later, in a confessional, Tyler added: “When Noah came through, he was one. He just started walking and talking.

“I never thought I would have to go through something like this with my family,” he admitted.

“Noah is like the promised child that I would say. When that happens, I will be the rock for every family, make sure everyone is okay.

He continued: “We have each other but lack that part. So how do we deal with that?”

“I’ll get through it, I can do it, but giving him a break is the hardest thing.

“Even though he’s not here, I believe he’s in a much better place and I’ll see him again.”

Back in front of the judges, Tyler revealed that the song he chose was the one he used to sing to his grandson when he would “swing him to bed.”

The contestant then sang a beautiful rendition of I Believe In You and Me by Whitney Houston, bringing Katy and the others to tears.

The celebrity judge was unable to feel comfortable hearing Tyler’s story, as she could be seen crying throughout his audition.

Then her fellow judge, Luke Bryan, said, “Katy is a wreck,” and Lionel Richie agreed: “Chaotic,” as she continued to sob.

The scene ends with a unanimous vote to send Tyler to Hollywood to compete in the next round.

BACK to IDOL

The popular singing competition returned with its 20th season over the weekend, with a few changes in the works.

The show will celebrate its 20th anniversary since it first premiered in 2002, and celebrate Ryan Seacrest There are some surprises in store for viewers.

The beloved trio of judges are back for this season, and executive producer and showrunner Megan Wolflick said they’re thrilled to welcome them back.

However, Bobby Bones who was the 4th judge in the previous 4 seasons was disqualified due to a commitment conflict.

Expired now Instagram post, Bones said, “Some of you noticed that I’m not on the Idol promo this season. My contract (with) my new network won’t allow me to do a show. different now. Love Idol, btw. 4 years is great.”

Wolflick said they don’t have another person in line to replace Bones, but there are alternative ideas in the works to include former American Idol contestants and winners.
