MORE THAN AN IDOL
Adam was cemented in fans’ hearts after debuting on Idol in 2009.
He placed second in the music competition, with Kris Allen being crowned the winner during his season.
As noted by Access, both artists performed the song titled No Boundaries during the season finale.
Singer Kara DioGuardi, a former judge on the TV series, co-wrote the track.
According to Variety, in an interview with the publication in January 2023, Adam was asked if he thought homophobia was the reason he was the Season 8 runner-up and not the winner.
He reportedly said: “Probably. But it was ten years ago.”
Adam’s career has continued to move up the ladder since Idol, despite not winning first place.
Adam played the character Charlie in the film Fairyland which was released on January 20, 2023.
According to Smooth Radio, he has sold more than 3 million albums and 5 million singles worldwide.
Since 2011, Adam has been performing with Queen + Adam Lambert, which includes himself and the active members of legendary British band Queen.
In 2014, the staff were successful in a 66-date world tour.
On Saturday, January 21st, Adam received an award at the Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative 2023 Gala.
As Entertainment Weekly reported, during his acceptance speech, Adam spoke about the criticism he endured following his American Idol run.
Among other things, he said: “When I went to the audition I was like, ‘Man, I don’t think they’re going to take me. i am the gay This is a pipe dream.
“And I made it to the final and I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I had no idea it was going to take this long. And then when I left the show, I signed a record deal.
“There was an article in Entertainment Weekly that said, ‘Oh, this guy is exciting and it may or may not be because he’s gay or not.’ And I thought, ‘Could be?!’”
