Now fans are raving about his new best friend Oliver Steele, 25, after the former competitor presented the champion with a heartwarming gift to celebrate his success.

The Nashville-based singer was thrilled Instagram profile on Tuesday to share a video of him surprising 18-year-old Iam with a custom-made guitar.

In the clip, the musician entered a backstage room, where he asked the American Idol winner to “help” him open something “real quick.”

Oliver then began to unbox a Breed Love brand guitar while I watched.

When he finally took the instrument out of the case, the 18-year-old champion said, “That’s mean, mate.”

Oliver replied, “I know, right?” as he began playing a tune.

“Here, give it a try,” he said to Iam, then handed the guitar to his mate.

“That’s cool, buddy! Oooh those strings are cool,” gushed the KI winner.

“Want to know about this guitar?” Oliver asked, adding, “It’s not mine.”

Iam was taken aback and said, “No, really mate? Really?”

“Oh what the hell, man,” he continued, hugging his close friend tightly.

Oliver then explained the meaning of the gift, saying the guitar was constructed entirely of “koa wood”.

I made sure to play a little song on the instrument before the video ended.

His best friend captioned the post: “During this incredible ride I took, @wtongi wasn’t just a friend; He was a brother, a light of positivity and a force of love.

“He impressed me and my family more than anyone I met on this trip. Originally I wanted to get him a ukulele, which the lovely people thought was very good @breedloveguitar make!”

He continued: “However, they were sold out! To my surprise, my sponsor contacted me and said, ‘Let’s give him a guitar instead! Let’s even give him a guitar made entirely out of koa wood!!’”

“So what you see is a video of me gifting Iam his brand new Breedlove guitar!! Many thanks to my sponsor.” @breedloveguitar for your generosity for giving me a chance and for helping me honor the newfound brotherhood between me and my Tokoua!!! Enjoy it bro!!! You deserve it!! Ofa Atu, Tokoua!!!”
