American Idol fans, after asking the program for major changes, claim the show will be “ruined” if the contestant wins

AMERICAN Idol fans have been in turmoil over the possibility that the next Idol winner could be another country singer.
American Idol’s social media manager recently promoted Sunday night’s potential winner on his official Instagram account, and fans are worried about it.
A snap of Idol contestant Colin Stough posing relaxed on the set of the idol show was shared on the reality singing show’s page on Friday.
He was wearing a short-sleeved red plaid button-down shirt and had his blond hair tied back with a trucker hat that was thrown back.
Colin looked like a regular Southerner and represented his hometown of Amory, Mississippi well.
In light of this, Idol’s caption read, “This country boy made it to the #GrandFinale of IDOL!”

“Let’s fall [horse emoji] if you want @colinstough to look forward to Sunday’s big win!”
Instead of leaving horse emojis, many fans explained the reasons why Colin shouldn’t become the next idol.
One fan quipped, “Well the boy has talent but vocally he certainly wasn’t the most talented.”
“But just like with The Voice, a lot of country fans seem to be voting, which causes the ‘country kids’ to keep winning.”

“I wish the jury had a say in voting for overall talent rather than in a country popularity contest.”
“Unfortunately, these shows are losing fans because of the results.”
Another added: “No. I don’t think he should win. If we’re just going to rely on talent and entertainment, which is what this show used to be about, then no.”
“Otherwise he will surely win, because that happens every year.”
A third person captioned: “Oh I hope not but I have a feeling he’ll make it! Another compatriot wins.”
A fourth reiterated: “If he wins, Idol is officially ruined.”
“That would be three male country singers who would win in a row and would NOT be their season’s top singers.”
A fifth person slammed: “Drop one.” [crying emoji] when idol has become the joke of a show.
COLIN’S COMPETITION
Although Colin could win, he has stiff competition which is even more favored by the fans.
Ryan attended Live! with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, and while he was there, an American Idol fan cut him off mid-sentence as he was talking about the future winning contender.
The mini-reunion between Kelly Ripa, 52, and her ex-co-host Ryan, 48, was heartwarming and eye-opening.
Before the Idol season 21 interview began, Ryan revealed that Kelly’s husband, Slash co-host Mark Consuelos, 52, only allows dining in the living room when Idol is on the air.
“was [Kelly, Mark, and their three kids] I’m allowed to eat in the living room when American Idol is on because that’s where the TV is on,” the former soap opera actress wrote.
“So we can take our plates in the living room.”
To get the conversation back on topic, Kelly asked Ryan of the three contestants competing for the Idol title in the show’s season finale which he liked best.
Megan Danielle, Colin Stough and Iam Tongi are the final three in the singing competition.
Ryan didn’t choose a personal favourite, responding that “one of those three will win” rather than taking sides.
While Ryan made no choice, a fan in the morning show audience did.
As Ryan was mid-answer, one Idol follower called out the name, “I am!”
Ryan seemingly made a mental note and asked the fan, “Do you like me?”
Producers didn’t catch the Crow member’s reaction; However, they did show a montage clip of Iam and the other finalists performing on the Idol stage throughout the competition.
SHAKE IT!
In addition to wanting Colin to take the win, some fans are demanding that the showrunners change the show itself.
Supporters explained that the long-running show is in need of a major modernization.
The official Idol Instagram account shared a message on the platform Tuesday promoting the show’s return for a 22nd season.
“American Idol is coming back for another season,” the caption read.
The post’s caption encouraged fans to “sing along” with the contestants for “another season.”
However, countless followers flocked to the comments section, urging ABC executives to make changes to the show for the upcoming season.
Eliminations in just one night were the main fan concerns that kept being suggested.
One person raged: “Cool. Go back to single elimination nights and let both coasts watch and vote before you’re eliminated the next night.”
“You endured the worst aspects of The Voice (multiple eliminations and host skits) despite having incredible talent.
“They’ve had at least ten stars this season, but they’ve been kicked off the stage. Give them all more time to show us who they are.”
Another added in a reply, “…All of this, plus allowing the singers who dropped out to have their final ‘swan song’.”
“The show used to do this rather than shove them off the stage unless they were chosen to sing for a jury parade.”
A number of other fans have insisted the show bring in new judges to replace the current ones: Katy Perry, 38, Lionel Richie, 73, and Luke Bryan, 46.
“Please new judges,” demanded a fan.
One person supported the commenter, adding, “Of course I just found it so refreshing to have Alanis.” [Morissette] and ed [Sheeran] last week.
“I just feel like the three that we have now have said everything they’re going to say … repeat themselves.”

Another advocated: “Make Alanis a permanent judge. She exudes joy and gives honest, sensible feedback.”
“They never say anything critical like Simon. Always positive enough that it’s not unrealistic,” said another, referring to legendary tough judge Simon Cowell.
