American Express’s website is down for customers, leaving them unable to make card payments for hours.
The issues currently affect phone and online account services, as well as the American Express app.
Many consumers use social media to express their frustration.
“App says it’s having trouble. How can I make payments? It’s unavailable since yesterday,” said one user.
Another tweeted: “Website down. No communication, status page down, phones not working, SMS OTPs not texting, credit cards not working for a lot of people.”
And a third tweeted this morning: “@AmericanExpress you know your app and website have been down for 12 hours.
“You might want to post a post or two to update customers. Social media is more than just selling your product.”
A banner on the American Express website is currently highlighting the issue.
It states: “We are aware that technical difficulties are currently affecting our telephone and online account services.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work on a resolution.”
On its Twitter customer care page, the company has responded to several users saying it is “working diligently to resolve the issue.”
Some customers have expressed concerns about being penalized for not being able to make payment.
It is unclear whether American Express will waive these penalties for those affected.
To file a complaint, you should provide your name, phone number, and account details, along with all relevant documentation.
Your first action should be to consult the customer service page on the American Express website.
