Aloy will spend less time alone on the forbidden horizon in the West, according to Guerrilla

Just over a month left until release Forbidden Horizon in the West, the folks at Guerrilla are eager to share some details on how the sequel will improve on the original. Taking in feedback from fans and using newly available technologies, the developer worked to make Aloy’s next adventure an even better experience. One way they want to do this is for Aloy to spend less time exploring the wilderness on his own and more time with his companions.

A new cover story of Game informant dive into Forbidden West and the differences fans can expect from its predecessor. These changes will include improved graphics and cinematography, a more “live in” world, various HUD improvements, improved side quests, and more. In fact, one of the big focuses for Guerrilla this time around is building relationships between Aloy and her companions. Narrative director Benjamin McCaw said they worked hard to create a bond between the player and the companion characters. “However, the big focus we wanted to change from the first game to the second, was that you could spend more time with the main characters,” he shared.

Horizon Forbidden West's Companion

Letting her form relationships with her companions brings depth to the story and “truth” to a world that she might not have at first. Many characters that Aloy met in Horizon Zero Dawn give a side quest or a bit of story and then fade into the background. These new relationships will not only be felt through the main quest, but also the improved side quests. As McCaw explains, relationship building is “something we’ve tried to do consistently throughout the game. Not just with the characters you meet in the main quest, but also with some of the characters. side quests – they don’t just disappear after a quest.”

Making these connections in the world of Horizon will set the stage for Aloy as she works to save the world…again. Plus, players will have a bigger stake in ensuring these new friends survive whatever mechanical horror Forbidden West has in store.
