IF you are sick of receiving automated scam calls to your iPhone, there is an easy way for you to avoid them.
Apple added the ability for third-party apps to alert you to robocalls a few years ago.
You’ll need an iPhone running iOS 9 or later for the apps to work properly.
Some of the most popular apps have free and paid options.
Fan favorites include Hiya and Nomorobo.
These apps may show you a message along with an incoming call that will tell you whether the call is automated or fraudulent.
A message will appear on your screen saying something like “automatic phone call” or “scam or fraud”
You can then decide if you want to answer the call or not.
The application relies on a database that collects the number of scam callers.
These numbers are then categorized into the type of scam they are associated with.
Some apps from popular phone networks also offer this service.
Verizon Call Filter offers a spam detection service that can tell you how risky an incoming call is and send it straight to voicemail.
There’s also T-Mobile Scam Shield, which offers a similar service.
You can check if your network provider has its own phishing caller app by visiting the company’s website or searching for it on the App Store.
