Alex Jones Trial – Infowars host ordered to pay Sandy Hook’s parents over $4 million for spreading lies about 2012 massacre

INFOWARS host Alex Jones has been ordered to pay Sandy Hook’s parents $4 million for spreading lies about the 2012 school shooting.

A Texas courtroom fined the far-right conservative commentator millions in payments after he repeatedly claimed the mass shooting was a “hoax” involving the victims’ families.

Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, parents of murdered first-grader Jesse Lewis, are seeking up to $150 million from Jones and his company, Free Speech Systems LLC, for what their attorney called a “vile libel campaign.”

Jesse was among 20 students and six teachers killed at the school in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012.

Heslin told jurors Tuesday that Jones’ untruths made his life “hell” and led to harassment and death threats against him from people who believed he lied about his son’s death.

Over the years, Jones has been known for falsely claiming the event was a “huge hoax” performed by actors who defy Second Amendment right to bear arms.

Jones went so far as to claim that the massacre was staged using crisis actors.

On Wednesday, however, Jones admitted to the shooting and told the Austin jury it was “100 percent real.”

“I unwittingly participated in things that hurt these people’s feelings,” said Jones, who also admitted to making conspiracy claims about other mass tragedies, “and I’m sorry for that.”

The Infowars presenter looked speechless during Wednesday’s hearing when he was told his lawyer had inadvertently leaked his text message records to the opposition lawyer representing the parents of a murdered child.

“Did you know that 12 days ago your lawyers screwed up and sent me a complete digital copy of your entire phone with every text message you’ve sent for the past two years?” said attorney Mark Bankston loudly HuffPost.

“And when you were informed, you took no steps to identify it as a privilege?”

Bankston is representing Heslin and Lewis.

Jones filed a Mistrail application after being made aware of his leaked text messages in court. However, Judge Maya Guerra Gamble denied the request.
