Two people were shot dead after a gunman opened fire on an Aldi store in Germany.
Around 1 p.m. local time, the man stormed the supermarket in Schwalmstadt-Treysa – a town of around 8,500 people northeast of Germany’s financial hub Frankfurt, police said.
Police said it was not yet clear what happened.
According to reports, eyewitnesses said a man followed a woman into the house and shot her dead before pointing the gun at himself.
Police said there was no further danger to the public.
A police spokesman told BILD: “The background to the crime is currently unknown. The police are on site with strong forces.
“There is no danger to the population.”
