Alan Massengale, former ESPN player dies aged 63

ALAN Massengale has passed away at the age of 63 as confirmed by his former broadcaster.

More than six years ago, Massengale was diagnosed with colon cancer before being placed on life support after a slip and fall that caused a brain bleed.

During the 1980s, Massengale was a central employee of SportsCenter, also working at Fox Sports and KCBS and KCAL 9 in Los Angeles.z

It was at KCBS that he became the first host of CBSLA’s Sports Central program. He also used to do ring at boxing matches as he is a big fan of the sport.

After her cancer diagnosis in 2015, Massengale spoke frequently about her treatment and became an advocate for colonoscopy, telling her followers to go for preventive screenings.

Dubbed a “Legend,” Massengale attended the University of Georgia and was announced as a 2022 Fellow at his alma mater’s journalism school.
