Aladdin star dies aged 67 after the loss of Bob Saget and Norm MacDonald

COMEDIAN Gilbert Gottfried has died at the age of 67, his family confirmed on Tuesday.

His death marks another tragic loss to the comedy world following the recent deaths of Bob Saget and Norm MacDonald.

Gottfried’s family said on Facebook: “We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness.”

They added, “Although today is a sad day for all of us, please laugh as loud as you can in Gilbert’s honor.”

Jason Alexander, of Seinfeld fame, was one of the first to hint on social media that Gottfried had died and continued to write Twitter: “Gilbert Gottfried sometimes made me laugh when laughing didn’t come easily.”

“What a gift. I didn’t know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My best wishes and condolences to his family.”

Gottfried was known for playing many iconic roles, including lending his distinctive voice to the parrot Iago in the 1992 animated classic Aladdin.
