Ajax star Timber is spreading rumors Van Gaal warned him about Man Utd transfer after signing a new deal with the Dutch giants

JURRIEN TIMBER has denied all rumors he was advised to turn down a move to Manchester United.
The 21-year-old Ajax star was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the early stages of the summer transfer window.

However, he chose to stay in Amsterdam, which prompted the Red Devils to sign Lisandro Martinez instead.
After the transfer saga, reports suggested Timber had been stopped from joining Man Utd by Holland boss Louis Van Gaal.
The former United manager had been vocal about the defender’s situation before the deal was ruled out, hinting it would not be the best move for him.
In June he said: “I think a player with his qualities can play in the Prem. This is not a problem.
“But whether he has to take this big step now – that is the question.
“Then he’s not that smart (if he went to United) I think. He has to play.”
Some Netherlands sources even hinted that Van Gaal is ready to drop Timber from the Netherlands national team if he decides to make a move.
However, Timber has now insisted Van Gaal would have backed him had he joined the Red Devils.

Speaking to AD, he said: “When people say it was Louis van Gaal who told me not to go to Manchester United. He actually said I would make minutes there.”
The defender has meanwhile signed a new one-year contract extension with Ajax.
Timber’s former team-mate Martinez has thrived at Old Trafford since joining United in a £55million transfer in July.
The Argentina international has replaced Harry Maguire in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI in recent weeks.
He was even named Man Utd’s Player of the Month in August after a successful string of appearances.
