Raven Baxter can see the future, but when Raven’s House Returning for the fifth season on Disney Channel, the psychic’s past comes back to haunt her.
Adrienne Bailon-Houghton will reprise his role in Season 5, reprising his role as Alana, Raven’s high school bully. It’s So Raven, TVLine learned exclusively. Furthermore, Alana is currently the principal of Bayside, where Booker enrolled after he and Raven moved back to San Francisco to care for her father.
“I always hope for [playing Alana again], so to be able to make it happen is a dream come true,” Houghton told TVLine. “I have always enjoyed working with [Raven-Symoné]. We did the first Cheetah Girls movies when I was 19 and I’m 38 now, so we’ve been friends for almost 20 years. We laugh at the fact that we’re playing high school students… and now we’re playing parents. It’s weird! ”
The whole experience of Raven’s return to the world was “wild nostalgia” for Houghton, starting with flowers she found in her dressing room from Gary Marsh, Disney’s president and chief creative officer. Branded Television.
“Gary has been one of the sparks of my career, ever since I joined Leopard Girls,” she said. “I would call him the father of my industry. To receive a letter from him, welcoming me back to the Disney Channel, I almost rolled my eyes. back. Not just It’s So Raven filmed on that lot, but I also Zack and Cody’s Life on that lot. I miss all of us Cheetah Girls photo session and advertising shoot. Even just being in the dressing room makes me lose my mind.”
As for Alana as principal, Houghton admits she’s “absolutely shocked” by her character’s new gig. “How the genius of the writers of this book created the momentum where the school bully became the principal,” she said. “It’s funny and ironic, and I love being an authority figure.” Sure, it’s possible that Alana will eventually have a “big moment” that inspires her to change her ways, but Houghton says she’s “too happy to torture Raven Baxter as a grown woman” into” so that it happens soon.
Raven and Alana’s confrontational (but playful) dynamics are on full display when the women are finally reunited, something Houghton attributes to her and Raven’s decades-long friendship.
“We can have fun when Alana is the bully because we’re comfortable enough to do all that physical comedy,” she said. “There are things we’ve created and done that we can do because we’re really friends.”
Now for the question all Disney Channel fans are asking: While we’re returning to familiar playgrounds, would Houghton be interested in revisiting it? Cheetah Girls Franchising?
“That would be fun, and I always say ‘never say never,’” she says. “I’m excited about this new generation getting to experience Cheetah Girls on TikTok and Disney+. Kim Kardashian told me that North was obsessed with Cheetah Girls and wanted to introduce us. In my heart, I thought, ‘She’ll wonder why I’ve aged so much!’ So I love that there is a revival, but my only concern would be destroying it. I don’t want to kill the memory of something so great. But I am always disappointed. Maybe Bubbles and Chuchie grew up with kids of their own and they started the next generation of Cheetah Girls.”
Oh, one last thing – if you can’t mention this to one of Houghton’s two nieces, that’s great.
“I have nieces seven and nine years old, and they are obsessed with It’s So Raven and Raven’s House,” said Houghton. “Seeing the performance through their eyes was the best feeling ever. I hadn’t actually told them I was doing this, so when I knew it was on the air, I wanted to film it and document their reaction to seeing their aunt on the show again. ”
A premiere date for Raven’s Home Season 5 has yet to be announced. What are your thoughts on Houghton’s return as Alana? Drop them in a comment below.
