Adam Zimmer’s cause of death became known after the ex-Vikings coordinator and son of the former head coach died aged 38

ADAM Zimmer’s cause of death was revealed months after the 38-year-old was found dead at his home on Halloween.
Former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator and son of the team’s former head coach Mike Zimmer died of complications from “complications of a chronic alcohol use disorder.”

The disclosure was made by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
This disorder can be caused by excessive drinking or by experiencing withdrawal symptoms while cutting down or giving up drinking altogether.
Zimmer began coaching with the New Orleans Saints in 2006 and served as an assistant linebackers coach until 2009.
He also coached for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals, but had his longest tenure with the Vikings.


In the 2009 season, he won a Super Bowl with the Saints.
Zimmer eventually joined his father at the Vikings in 2014, rising to the role of co-defensive coordinator, which he shared with Andre Patterson in 2020.
Mike Zimmer, his son and most of the staff were fired at the end of the 2021 season.
Zimmer returned to the Bengals as an offensive analyst before his death.
