The actor said he wanted to “get the character out of my system and home.”
Adam Driver is one of Hollywood’s busiest actors, appearing in three big movies last year: the boundary-pushing musical “Annette” for Leos Carax, and two Ridley Scott period pieces from “The Last Duel” and “Gucci house. The final film is currently garnering a lot of attention, as the all-star cast embarks on an awards season press tour. Jared Leto recently talked about his time making “House of Gucci” and said that he Eagerly back for the prequel. But it seems that Driver is not interested in expanding the experience.
In a new interview with W . magazineDriver said that “House of Gucci” was the hardest of the three, saying the role was a psychological challenge because “I don’t live in the same world as Maurizio Gucci.” The experience seemed so exhausting that he didn’t attend the film’s closing party. Driver says: “After 14 hours a day being Gucci, I’m ready for it to end. “In general, I quit immediately. I haven’t attended a combo party since ‘Girls’. I just wanted to get the character out of my system and home.”
Even so, Driver has nothing but positive things to say about filmmaker Scott. Even after making two films together in a year, Driver showed no signs of being bored with the British director. “I love him damn it,” he said. “He drew his own storyboard, and the production was fast. He doesn’t lose momentum over a pointless detail.”
While he doesn’t like entangled parties, Driver said he enjoyed the challenge of playing someone as complicated as Maurizio Gucci. “The way he picks up valuable things and discards them, the way he is the most gentlemanly of men – those qualities are interesting to think about,” he said. The actor added that he’s especially proud of the way he captures his character’s walk, which he calls “Gucci’s walk.” Mastering it is a long process, but Driver says it is necessary because “there have been generations of Gucci in that step.”
He went on to call his character “a man who rejects the world he knows, rediscovers his sense of self, to fall in love with a toxic world. He is a victim of time.”
