‘Absolutely stunned’ – Man Utd coach Erik Ten Hag’s target breaks silence on unrest at Ajax after Overmars sacking

AJAX coach Erik Ten Hag has responded to Marc Overmars’ resignation as the club’s director of football.
Ten Hag, 51 years old, is understood as a the leader to take charge of Man Utd when they look for a long-term manager.
The former Twente centre-back was appointed at the Amsterdam club in 2017.
He and Overmars developed a strong bond and won two Eredivisie titles together.
But the former Arsenal man quit his job last week after being arrested sending inappropriate messages to female co-workers.
Overmars sent an X-rated photo to another member of staff, according to Het Parool in the Netherlands.
Ten Hag told ESPN: “I was completely stunned when I heard it.
“This is catastrophic. Especially for the victims, the women.

“As a coach, of course you have to give off energy, but it’s been difficult the last few days.”
Regarding former Ajax colleague Overmars, Ten Hag feels remorse but insists that suffering should be his first thought.
“Of course, you sympathize with him,” he said.
“But the first thoughts go into the suffering of the women.
“It touches us all to the very depths of our souls.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd players are said to be interim coach Ralf Rangnick as ‘old-fashioned’.
