Aaron entered rehab in September 2017 after being arrested for drunk driving and possession of marijuana, Us Weekly reported at the time.
In an interview with the outlet, the star eerily revealed that growing up, he didn’t think he’d make it this far.
“I thought I was going to die at 30,” he said.
“Even when I was 13, 14, I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’m going to die’.”

“Life has been pretty tough,” he reflected on becoming a star 21 years earlier at the age of 9.
“I’ve experienced a lot of trauma, a lot of loss, a lot of loneliness. I just felt like I had to go.”
At the time of the interview, he was checking into rehab for one of multiple times and weighed 115 pounds despite being 6 feet tall.
“I’m burned, my goal is to be the phoenix that rises from the ashes” – adding he was “shocked” to be turning 30.
“I had a different upbringing. I couldn’t go to school, couldn’t have normal friends,” he continued, pondering sullenly.
“I wasn’t allowed to have friends with me. They had to sign waivers that said we were not responsible if they killed themselves.
“I have always worked and flown to different countries. One minute my dancer is my tutor and the next minute my grandma is my tutor.
“I was lonely even though I performed in front of millions of people.”
LATE FROM DEBT
The music sensation was no stranger to tragedy – he lost his sister when he was just 25, as well as the sudden death of his father in May 2017.
Leslie Carter tragically died of a drug overdose in 2012.
Just five years later, Aaron suddenly lost his father at the age of 65 – months before his Us Weekly interview.
He has since admitted he felt “responsible” for the deaths of his family members.
“I felt like I was responsible for my sister’s death, my father’s death, my family’s breakup,” a tearful Aaron said in a 2019 clip.
Speaking on a 2019 episode of The Doctors, Aaron said: “The official diagnosis is that I have multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety and manic depression.
“I was prescribed Xanax, Seroquel, Gabapentin, Hydroxyzine, Trazodone, Omeprazen.
SHOCK LOSS OF A TEENAGE IDOL
Aaron, a former teenage heartthrob, was found in the bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California on Saturday, The US Sun confirmed.
Los Angeles County police arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. late morning after receiving a report of a drowned man.
Law enforcement officials told The US Sun that “MPs responded to the call” saying “they found a deceased person in the tub”.
Deputies later revealed that a domestic worker discovered Aaron’s body as unresponsive and immediately called 911, but the star was pronounced dead at the scene.
A rep for the pop star confirmed the death in a statement, saying, “It is with great regret that I confirm that Aaron Carter was found unresponsive at his home in Palmdale, California this morning.
No foul play had yet been discovered, TMZ first reported.
The sheriffs’ and paramedics’ cars were spotted outside Aaron’s home and the property was cordoned off with police tape.
Upon hearing the news, Aaron’s fans took to social media to mourn the pop idol’s death.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “RIP Aaron Carter. I can’t believe I’m writing this right now. I’m in total shock, disbelief and sadness right now. I’m feeling really sad right now. Gone WAY too soon. “
“WINE OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE”
Just hours after his death, Aaron’s friend and baby mum, Melanie Martin, was photographed outside the home where he was spotted sobbing as friends comforted her.
She is pictured burying her head in her hands as she bursts into tears.
Melanie, 30, also documented her drive to the house just minutes after his death was announced and posted a heartbreaking video reacting to his passing.
In the two-second TikTok clip, she can be seen crying hysterically in the car alone.
The couple got engaged in June 2020 to show their commitment to each other, but called it off shortly after.
Aaron and Melanie then welcomed their first child together in November 2021.
He recently opened up about his excitement at raising their baby son Prince, who turns 1 at the end of this month.
The couple continued to have a tumultuous relationship over the years, one that happened time and time again.
Custody of Prince belongs to Melanie’s mother and Aaron went into rehab again this year to try to regain him.
SHINING STAR
His older brother is Nick Carter, one-fifth of popular boy band Backstreet Boys, and rose to fame around the same time as his younger sibling — they have another sister.
Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Aaron rose to fame as a pop singer in the late 1990s when he was a teenager – but has since turned to rap.
As a teenager, Aaron opened shows for the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears – he signed his first record deal at the age of nine.
Between 1997 and 2002 he released four albums and made guest appearances on Nickelodeon.

His second album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), was released when he was just 12 and became a worldwide hit, selling over three million copies.
The singer is best known for his cover of “I Want Candy,” as well as his singles “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and “That’s How I Beat Shaq.”
